You may see more of me soon...

I'm moving east for a few months this summer to work as a journalist full-time for the first time.

I'm absolutely excited for the challenge of the job.

But there will be another challenge: moving from a city of one million, to a town of 9000 7,500, as a vegetarian. In fact, when I told the publisher in my job interview, that I'm a vegetarian, he laughed.

I will stock up on nutritional yeast before I go, I think.

  1. beans, mushrooms, barley - you'll be set. I spent a month in a small eastern-european town last summer. No one knew what tofu was. Luckily, I survived on rice and beans, and you can make a fantastic mushroom-barley risotto with fresh wild mushrooms. And I'm vegan - but as a vegetarian you'll have significantly more options available. Luckily I found soy milk!
